primers challenge
Tuesday, December 8
heh well i'm lazy to come up with a post for primers challenge... and since i wrote the article for acspress and the fb page already, i'll just be cheapskate and paste it here :D but don't worry, got little bits and pieces of my comments so its not so bland (: such an idealistic and fairytale-like picture i painted eh? no don't worry, i didn't paint it with nail polish! lolxt! go queenie!
On 26th to 29th November 2009, 40 Primers and 3 teachers embarked on 4-day trip to Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia (bleugh! mudland! homeland!) for the Boys’ Brigade Primers Challenge. This annual programme is designed to promote character building as well as to foster a greater sense of brotherhood between the Primers, while allowing all participants to have an enjoyable experience. With bags packed and spirits soaring, the Primers braced themselves for the adventure waiting across the causeway (ahhhh! scream like a queenie!). The string of activities was kickstarted by white water rafting, where the rush of the river sent Primers down the river rapids at great speeds, at the same time throwing some off the raft (capsiiiiiiize!!!). This was followed by caving, where some faced and overcame their claustrophobia (and other kinds of fears like seeing too much of something... tsk!), while being treated with views of the vast interior of the cave. The next day commenced with waterfall abseiling, followed by a jungle trek in search of the Rafflesia flower. However, the trek was quickly turned into a mud skiing adventure, as a torrential shower from mother nature turned the soil beneath our feet to sludge. The harsh conditions presented failed to dampen the spirits of the Primers as musical melodies (BATTLEFIELD!!!) continued to fill the air, and even brought out the best in everyone as each individual sought to extend a helping hand to others on the trail. Throughout the trip, the Primers were brought closer to nature, an experience which was helmed by the humble accommodations that literally brought nature to their doorsteps (yesh cuppaqinno, there were doors!). Regardless of the leeches feasting on their sweet nutritious blood (some from areas just below the belt...), or the pelting of cold rain on their skin, the Primers forged on fearlessly through the activities, supporting one another physically and psychologically. The trip was the perfect opportunity for the new primers to familiarise themselves with the new crowd. Furthermore, it allowed stronger bonds of unity to be forged between each of the Primers through the nights of spontaneous interaction, where Primers got together for sessions of games and aimless chatter (heh pokemon...). All in all, the Primers Challenge certainly was a great prelude to foreshadow the things to come in the Primers programme.
yay! post for december!
